Not Skate Board, Not Surf Board, but...

Readers of this blog will know that I've been a passionate supporter of the Up With People program. (Read an early post about it here).

So, I'm honored, thrilled, humbled, stoked, jazzed, pumped and torqued to announce that as of today, I've been elected to serve on Up With People's Board of Directors.

I'm too damned old to participate in the program myself, so I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute my time, resources, and passion to help grow, secure and sustain this truly remarkable organization.

So now (ahem!) allow me to toot the program's horn once again, but for the first time in an official capacity:

If you know someone between the ages of 18 and 29 (or if you are that someone) who has the slightest desire to grow as a true global leader, who wants to experience what it means to help change the world by building bridges across cultures, religions, geography and politics, point them (or yourself) in the direction of the UWP admissions office.

You can get involved, too, in a number of ways. If you have a minute, please feel free to explore how you might connect with Up with People and add your voice of support to our (I like the sound of "our") critical mission.

Out (Almost) of the Whirlwind

I've been conspicuously absent from the blogosphere of late, but I'm just about ready to ramp it up again (by "ramp" I mean posting once or twice a week).

My speaking schedule's been nuts (I'm not complaining), and I've been trying to sort out what, exactly, I want to do with this blog given all the other demands on my time.

So, to those of you who were wondering where I've been, thanks for your patience and please stay tuned.

In the meantime, I had a nice podcast chat recently with Wayne Turmel, host of The Cranky Middle Manager (ahh...he ain't so cranky).

Have a listen and let us know what you think about the pros and cons of leadership development programs.
